Pictured here is an organic fertilizer for my Japanese Maples.I thought I was being so darn smart taking this picture through the photo booth application of my Mac......only to see a mirror image of what I had intended. So everything is backwards.Oh well.
You can see...sorta...that the box looks like a cereal box with some cool graphics on it.The name of the fertilizer is "Peace of Mind" and there is a whole line of products under this label.
Down the street there is a garden center that sells mostly hydroponic and organic gardening supplies. The guy who runs it is a neat fellow and knows his stuff that is for sure.He reminds me of someone who just got back from Woodstock. He sports long hair, wears cool graphic t shirts, is a vegetarian, grows patchouli and wants to have a co-op.....He is very scholarly in regards to his knowledge of horticulture....Home Depot and places like that have the standard organic stuff like Miracle Grow's version of organic potting soil, bone meal and blood meal....or maybe Plantone or HollyTone.....
But this place has products that are simply over the top.I love to walk around the store looking at the graphics and the hilarious names given to some of the things they sell. These companies sure make organic gardening and hydroponics fun. Here are a few of the names of products I came across:
Happy Frog organic soil
Organic guano juice,Liquid Karma,Peace of Mind and Wet Betty (all fertilizers)
Then there are an assortment of other types of fertilizers and bud boosters including seaweed extract, fish emulsion and bat guano (lovely)
Here are some others:
Colossal Bud Blast (with a peace sign on the bottle)
There's Suck It Up which is a cactus fertilizer sporting a cartoon cactus on the label.
There's Planticillin which has a cartoon of a "sexy" plant dressed in a tight fitting nurses outfit
Then there is Bada Bing Bada Bloom (another bloom booster...probably found in Tony Soprano's garden shed)
And finally there is Voodoo Juice.Of course the picture on this label is a plant in a pot with a skull for a head and 2 burning candles beside.I have no clue what any of this stuff does for the most part...but it keeps me entertained.Check it out:
