I am one of these people who become obsessed with things...I think about it,research it on the web, call people, buy books about it...right now my obsessions are making paper mache monsters for the Haunted Greenhouse (an annual event at my place of employment),sacred geometry(basically mathmatics for mystics),creation spirituality(what about those other religions out there)pansies(my next crop in the greenhouse)and ornamental grasses.
My claim to fame at work is that I am a geek...a label I wear proudly,I might add....it depends on what I am "in to" at the time...so I might be a book geek or a computer geek.....an arts geek or an npr geek.....so right now I am a horticulture geek.I am really "in to" patchuli plants and sweet grass.I just received 6 sweet grass plants from Arizona which I am babying in the greenhouse right now.In a month they will go into the ground with a mix of sand, blood meal and bone meal. Then by next summer we will be able to cut and dry them to make incense.I tried making oil out of the patchuli plant.....it ended up smelling like dogfood.I obviously messed up on some step in the process.Let it be known to anyone who reads this blog that I do not have a greenhouse sitting pretty in the backyard...I wish....but the greenhouse is at work where one of my jobs is horticultural therapist.I actually got my certification this summer. So I am certified in pondering geeky horticulture!
Demonia Nymphe......they are Greek (not geek) and play reconstructed instruments with the contempoary flare of midi's and computers...apparently what I am listening to is Greek music....not of the tradtional Greek festival variety or the Greek Orthdox but of the we worship Greek gods variety...which I guess is of the pagan variety. No matter,it is really good stuff even if I can't understand a word they are singing.
